I never got a response from this project and neither did anyone else I knew who applied. We weren’t expecting to get accepted necessarily but we would’ve appreciated any sort of response at all.
Hi Issu, Looking at my records, an email went out to everyone who applied properly. If a second email didn’t follow, I would assume that applicants didn’t meet standards.
When I looked at your website, nothing was there. I never got a reply from you, which may attribute to your server being down. In any case, I apologize for any miscommunication on my part. I’m still in school (72DEMONS is my senior project) so I don’t have time to personally track down everyone.Yes, my webserver went down for a bit. There was trouble with my provider. I sent a follow-up email about it though with my portfolio, and emails after that with inquiries and never received responses. That’s what had had me disappointed. I understand your position as a senior in college since I had a rough time myself. I hope you understand though that professionalism is appreciated when working with other artists who are waiting for your response or at least a public update.
I’ll let what people I know know that their applications weren’t accepted then. Thanks for replying. It’s a relief for me to hear back.
From what I know when working with artists and curators it is very common not to hear back when applying to an exhibition or any sort of gig. A lack of contact implies an implicit rejection. Over three hundred people applied and in my place it is impractical to speak with everyone. Though I think in the future I will put up a disclaimer to prevent such anxieties.
I’m contributing to this book, it’s going to be awesome! If you’re interested, please contact Tara & get yo’ demon on.
